More snow. More inside days. Hot chocolate, cookies, warm dinners. Mom's hand knit wool mittens. We ventured outside one afternoon, with some pure maple syrup, and sat down in the fresh snow for a little snack. As I type this, we're closing out the last day of the first month of the new year. The morning light is a clear blue, with a stripe of peach over the trees, and has a crisp, crackling look to it, like the ice on the ground.
